Installation of Buried Pipes to Transport Water on a Mining Road.

The Challenge

CODELCO required to transport water in an open pit mine section, destined for a pool located on the south side.

The job had to be done quickly to avoid damage to the access road. Therefore the pipeline should be located on the side of the road, buried.

Pexgol Solution

The client chose Pexgol because it was impossible to meet the delivery terms of the pipeline enabled with another type of pipe.
The advantage of Pexgol, in this solution, lies in the supply format in coils of long lengths and the possibility of burying it without the need for a sand enbeding. In addition, the pipeline was guaranteed to withstand strong temperature variations over the course of a year, ranging from -20°C to 35°C / -4°F to 95°F.

The installation was simple and fast. Crosspipe Systems carried out a complete induction to the pipe installation company, both in the uncoiling and in the welding of the couplings. In total 35 electrofusion couplings were made.
